Reflection Voice Thread

May 30, 2007

1. Explain with details and specific information what you learned, what you found interesting, surprising, or shocking about the presentations you heard in class.
When I was listening I was surprised that quite some topics fall heavily on girls and woman, which was ironically my groups topic. I was also interested to hear that in some places women weren’t allowed to drive. All in all it was very interesting.

2. What would you change to improve your project/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
If I were to do the assignment again using voice thread I would try to talk as normally possible when recording our voices.

Answer to UN power question

May 7, 2007

Do you think that the UN should get more or less power?

I think that the UN should get more power than it has now because it would help other countries. This is good because countries can feel safer under the lead of the UN (some people might say that then the UN would then become ‘evil’). Also there would be no or little legal disorder in the country. If this happens long enough world countries might want to make one super country leaded by the UN. Of course the UN together must decide something. People argue that even if the UN had more power there still would be terrorism. Although this is true the terrorism should be drastically reduced.

Malaika’s blog response

Title of Article: “Scientists find most Earth-like planet yet”
Website Title: CNN.
Date published: 27/4/07.
Website address: <http://robots.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/04/25/habitable.planet.ap/index.html>
Date you looked at the site: (27/4/07).

1.What new information has come?

The new information is that the planet has been named and that scientists believe that the temperature would be useful as we would not need to edit our clothes too much. Also scientists think that there can be liquid water on it. Even if the planet could be too hot scientists found something interesting. They found that one side always faces the red dwarf ’sun’. Also, ironically, someone told scientists to look for red dwarfs as they could be possible hosts, and a few days later they found this planet.

2. What did you find interesting about this topic?

I found this interesting as this talks about a possibly habitable planet, which hasn’t been found yet at the same level as this planet.

3. What did you like about the initial blog posting?

I liked the initial blog as it looked like it belonged on that page as it was specific given the info Malaika had to work with.

King Tut: Presentation by Remy van Brussel

All hail King Tut, boy pharaoh! I had the shortest reign of all Egyptian pharaohs. I am here to inform you of my brief life.
I became Pharaoh at nine years of age. I succeeded Ackmenaten. I reigned for only ten years before I died at the age of 19. Many believe I was murdered. By body had broken bones in my skull and left leg. My successor, who might have been the one who killed me, was my uncle Ay.
My chief significance was realized only in the 19th century. My tomb was discovered in the year 1922 by James Carter. Until my tomb was discovered, I was unknown to most people. My tomb was one of the only tombs untouched by robbers. I had lots of artifacts in my tomb, and most were of great value. Sadly, my death had more impact than my life.
By finding me, people knew lots more about the ancient Egyptians. People learned what types of gifts were given to the pharaoh to take to the next life. People also learned just how important the next life was to the pharaohs and ancient Egyptians by the amount of gifts and artifacts were buried in a royal tomb. People learned also interesting details about my life such as hobbies by viewing items such as the board games placed in my tomb.
Though my life was short, I’ve impacted millions around the globe. Without the discovery of my tomb, people would know very little about ancient Egyptian times. This is how a young boy changed the world.

Famous Egyptians Reflection

April 22, 2007

What did I learn/find interesting?

When I was listining I didn’t exactly ‘learn’ something but it was interesting. Firstly I found interesting such as the facts for instance how Khufu believed he was better than Ra. I also liked how people dressed up and tried to mimic who they were.

What I would do if I were to do this again.

If I were to do this again I would not change anything as I think that I did well during my speech.

Ancient Africa Reflection 2

What would you change about the final product (the wiki you created) if you were to do the assignment again?

If I were to do the wiki again I would not change anything because I like the wiki and I don’t know what I could change to improve it.

Look at some of the other wikis from any class and find a few that you think are done exceptionally well. Tell me the name of the empire and the block, and then explain what you like about their wiki.

I liked In paticular all the movies that were made as they were interesting . I also liked F Block Zimbabwe as it was very imformative.

Ancient Africa Wiki Reflection

February 8, 2007

What did you learn from this task?

In this task I learned how to do Boogle searches, how to search for websites with the information I need, how to know a website is appropriate for use and I learned lots about Wiki’s and Mali.

Did you find this difficult or easy? Why?

I found this task reletivly normal, not too hard and not too easy, although the research had some problems the rest was simple enough.

What would you change about the process you went through to complete the Wiki if you were to do the assignment again?

If I were to do this wiki again I would change the way I research as that caused me the most problems.
